The emergence of cars in the early 20th century transformed modern U.S. cities, leading to a substantial increase in global greenhouse gas emissions. Car-centric infrastructure, characterized by wide roads and highways, became dominant in urban landscapes. However, the cities of the future offer an opportunity for transformation. By taking inspiration from ancient cities, they can prioritize public transportation and foster human connection, resulting in reduced emissions and more accessibility.
